The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is reducing the length of validity of single trip permits for oversize/overweight loads. Beginning, April 15, 2016, single trip permits will be valid for five days. Carriers may apply for a permit five days in advance of the requested start date.

This change applies to all permits issued under Wisconsin Statutes 348.26, and will put Wisconsin in line with permit validity lengths in Illinois (five days), Iowa (five days), Michigan (five days) and Minnesota (seven days). This change is expected to improve the accuracy of construction and maintenance restriction data at the time a permit is approved.

If you have questions about this new policy, please contact the Oversize Overweight Permit Section at 608.266.7320.
