Motor carriers and oversize load operators traveling through Maryland should be aware of temporary traffic impacts on the westbound span of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge due to the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Maryland.
According to Maryland transportation officials, runners participating in the Torch Run will begin crossing the bridge at approximately 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 9. During the event, the right lane and center buffer lane on the westbound span will be temporarily closed to accommodate participants.
While officials anticipate only minimal traffic delays, oversize load carriers should plan accordingly and use extra caution when approaching and crossing the bridge during this time. Temporary lane closures may affect travel speeds and maneuverability for permitted loads.
