The state of Nebraska and surrounding states issued alerts, warning about oversize load travel restrictions during the upcoming Solar Eclipse.
On Monday, August 21, 2017, the path of a total solar eclipse will cross diagonally over the entire length of he state of Nebraska, resulting in a 90 percent solar eclipse, which means 90 percent of the sun ill be hidden from view, casting a large shadow over the state.
According to the state advisory, and as a result, oversize loads will not be able to travel from sundown on Friday, August 18 until sunrise on Tuesday, August 22.
Safe travel concerns and the number of visitors traveling along the eclipse’s path were reason for the restrictions.
There are a number of states with oversize and superload travel restrictions and limited travel before and after the solar eclipse, which include the following:
Idaho
No oversize load travel from sunrise on Friday, August 18 until Sunset Tuesday, August 22. if over width.
Wyoming
No oversize load travel from 6 a.m. Sunday, August 20 until 9 p.m. Tuesday, August 22. The restriction applies to all permits.
Montana
No restrictions
Iowa
No restrictions
Kansas
No restrictions
Missouri
Only superloads will be restricted during the eclipse in Missouri. There is no superload movement from Saturday, August 19 until Tuesday, August 22. No restrictions will be implemented for routine permits.
Oregon
No travel if over-width from noon Aug. 18 through Aug. 21, normal travel resumes Aug. 22
Kentucky
No restrictions
Tennessee
No restrictions
Georgia
No restrictions
North Carolina
No restrictions
South Carolina
No rest allowed
