In honor of Nevada’s 150th birthday, the state’s department of transportation office will be closed on Friday, October 31.

The annual holiday, referred to as “Nevada Day,” commemorates Nevada’s admission to statehood on October 31, 1864. The celebration is considered the largest statehood celebration in the nation.

Nevada’s DOT office closure means no oversize load permits will be issued on Friday, October 31. The state’s (Carson City) over-dimensional permit division will resume work Monday, November 3.

This state holiday is celebrated on the last Friday in October every year.
