On Oct. 1, electronic tolling on the renovated Memorial Bridge in Parkersburg, West Virginia will begin.

For standard passenger vehicles with a funded and properly installed MOV Pass transponder or compatible EZ Pass transponder, the charge will be $1 per crossing.

For vehicles without a transponder or one without funding, the license plate will be scanned and an invoice for $4.50 per crossing mailed to the registered owner.

The additional fee reflects administrative costs associated with obtaining the information and sending the bill, according to a release from Parkersburg Bridge Partners.

The company purchased the bridge from the City of Parkersburg in early 2022 and embarked on a $50 million rehabilitation project that included an all-new concrete deck, reinforced steel truss, new paint and aesthetic features. The weight restriction in place on the bridge for several years has been lifted.

After initially limiting traffic to one lane at a time, the bridge was closed in August 2022 and reopened Aug. 31. Tolls have not been charged since it reopened.
