As the Indiana Permit Department prepares to launch its new oversize/overweight permitting system, the department will not accept new oversize load permit applications from Feb. 1 – 8.
The state will stop receiving permit applications on Monday, Feb. 1 at 4 p.m. ET. All oversize, overweight and wide load permit applications must be complete, any incomplete applications will not be moved over to the new system.
Limited services will be available after 4 p.m. on Feb. 1 through Feb. 4 at 4. p.m. for viewing and printing permits but no new oversize/overweight load permit applications will be accepted.
Once the new system is live on Feb. 8, oversize load permit applications will start being accepted and processed.
Emergency permits will be issued, subject to approval, for the following reasons:
- Unexpected equipment failure that will shut down a manufacturing process
- Train derailment
- Breakdown or threatened breakdown of electric, gas, water, or telephone public utility facilities
- In response to a situation that poses an immediate danger to life or health (e.g., a smokestack damaged by high winds is threatening to fall).
