Canadian Provinces closed for Victoria Day

All Canadian province transportation offices are closed Monday, May 20, 2013 for Victoria Day. No permits will be issued. Victoria Day is celebrated in Canada on the last Monday of the month before May 25, and began as a celebration to honor the Queen. Normal business will resume Tuesday, May 21.

MD raises survey standard

Effective immediately, Maryland State Highway Administration’s Hauling Permits Section is requiring height surveys for a new standard. Loads 14’6″ and higher will need a height survey. For I695, loads 15’6″ or higher require the survey. MD requires each survey have details such as exact date of travel, time, driver’s name, and phone/cell number.

MD allows night moves

Effective now, the state of Maryland department of transportation will allow overnight travel (9 p.m. to 5 a.m.) for permitted loads within certain dimensions. Permitted loads not exceeding 75-feet long, 14-feet 6-inches high, 12-feet wide and 120,000 pounds will be allowed night travel with prior approval.
