The state of Alabama is observing Jefferson Davis’ birthday on Monday, June 5. Most of the state offices will be closed including the department of transportation permit division.
No oversize load permits will be issued. Any permits needed for that state will be applied for on Tuesday, June 6.
Although the oversize load permit office is closed, there are no oversize travel restrictions.
Alabama has an official state holiday, celebrated this year on June 5, for the birthday of the president of the Confederacy. It is one of three state holidays honoring Confederate figures.
